El Centro - The Foundation for Education, ��������'s non-profit auxiliary organization, recently received a donation of $25,000 from AT&T.  The donation was a result of AT&T's interest in partnering with innovative programs to assist educational programs targeting students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds such as English learners and the economically disadvantaged.  All of the funds will go to support Career and Technical Education programs at ��������'s Alternative Education program in Imperial County.  

Imperial County – Based upon Imperial County’s student enrollment of 37,000 for grades Kinder through 12th grade the �������� can nominate one local teacher to the California Department of Education to be considered for the California Teacher of the Year Program.

CALIPATRIA — A wealth of experience helps anyone transition into a new job, but what makes Kelley Marmolejo stand out as an education administrator is her zeal to serve. After performing well as a secondary language arts curriculum coordinator for the �������� (��������) these past four years, she currently serves as the principal for Fremont Primary School.

Imperial County – Imperial Valley School District Superintendents have honored 3 individuals for outstanding support to students with a disability.    The eighth annual SELPA Community Advisory Committee (CAC) awards were presented to Norma Nava, Imperial Valley College;  Alan Phillips, CEO California Mid-winter Fair and Bethany Carson, Brawley Union High School Special Education Teacher.  The presentation of

Brawley – First year teacher, Daniel Nunez, from Alternative Education’s Del Rio Academy in Brawley reflected on one of his most vivid memories as a new teacher. “It seems like almost every day of the school year there was something memorable” responded Nunez. “But I do remember a fondness for the graduation ceremony – one student in particular I had first met at Rite-Track (an evening program for at-risk youth) graduated and it was rewarding to see her accomplish an important goal like graduating from high school.”

Imperial County – The newly released �������� Annual Yearbook (a.k.a. our Annual Report) will highlight areas of success in education as well as identify areas where we, as a community, must continue to improve.  

Just like they had done all year, an hour a day, up to twice a week, George Mendez and Yazbeth Velasquez folded, matched and sorted high-fashion clothes at the Banana Republic store at Calexico’s Gran Plaza mall. Today would be different, though, when assistant manager Stephanie Villanueva presented the young men with a cake on their last day of “work.”
